Join Tania Candiani and Kerry Doyle for an online conversation focusing on synesthesia, a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. It is a sort of embodied translation, like seeing sound or hearing colors. Both body and translation are key to Tania Candiani’s work which exists in the interstices of craft and contemporary practice, color and sound, poetry and technology. Tania Candiani (born 1974, Mexico City) works in a variety of media and practices at the intersection of different languages systems, including phonic, graphic, linguistic, symbolic, and technological. Kerry Doyle is Director and Chief Curator of the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso. She specializes in curatorial projects that are interdisciplinary, participatory and performative, with a special focus on the border as subject and site.
