Join New Mexico environmental journalist Laura Paskus and Colombian artist, activist, and scholar Felipe Castelblanco for a conversation around rivers and the many stories around them. Their conversation will connect Cartographies of the Unseen, a poetic and in-depth exploration of the Rio Putumayo in the Amazon – on view in the Counter Mapping exhibition – with the Rio Grande.

Learn about commonalities and differences between rivers as bodies of water, political objects, communal landscapes, repositories of stories, and the ecological challenges they face. The event will also include a screening of Filmic Cartographies, including the video work by the Indigenous collective Ñambi Rimai which uses media to support efforts of self-governance among indigenous nations in the Amazon.
