516 ARTS and the UNM M.F.A. in Creative Writing program presented a reading celebrating Destructible Heart Press, a local small press founded in 2002 with the principle that good poets deserve good looking books. They publish "Gourmet Chapbooks," with the aim of wasting no word and no space. (www.destructibleheart.com)
Dan Darling, a native of Albuquerque, spent the last 15 years traveling across the United States, Europe, China and Australia working as a circus performer, an IRS agent, a café manager, a bartender, a writer, and a magician. He is now back in Albuquerque, where he is an M.F.A. student in Creative Writing.
Damien Flores has been a member of the ABQ Slam Team and an organizer for the National Poetry Slam and College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. In 2007 he was named New Mexico Hispano Entertainers’ Association Poet of the Year. He has performed across the United States and has been published in Bomb Magazine and Shine on you Crazy Diamond (Sun Stone Press, 2004). His first book for Destructible Heart, A Novena of Mud, appeared in early 2006.
Meghan Jones is a 20 year old hurricane. She is a current student of English Creative Writing at Northern Arizona University, the author of The New Black and a handful of novellas, and the 2006 NORAZ Grand Slam Champion.
Adam Rubinstein, founder of Destructible Heart Press, is a mild-mannered graphic designer by day and book artist after a quick stop in a phone booth. His poems have appeared in numerous literary journals. He holds a B.A. in Performance Poetry and Visual Literature from Hampshire College.
